I don't think its oil related but we need more details. could be ignition- how old are those components?

Can you post a video of trying to start it- at least then we can hear it and what not.

To the OP: How MUCH oil did you add, and where is the level on the dipstick now?

PLEASE tell us year and engine!

 

My truck is a 2007 F150 V8 5.4L Supercrew with 70Ka miles. I added 5 quarts of oil to it. I know I should have checked the oil more frequently but I had the oil changed in November and just didn't figure it would get that low that quick. Im hoping that the computer put my truck in "safe" mode when it got the low oil pressure and that's why it wont crank. Like I said, I didn't hear any loud bangs or anything when it happened, just a light clicking noise. So assuming the problem was no oil, and the computer wont let me crank it, how do I get it out of safe mode and get oil pressure back? Or do you think that's even the problem?

 

Just curious as to what your oil pressure gauge was showing/reading?

 

It took 5 QUARTS to bring the oil level up to WHERE on the stick?

Come on man - you gotta answer the questions.

How many MILES since the oil change? What weight oil did you use? Can you see evidence of any LEAKS?

Once again - terminology - it won't CRANK or it CRANKS and won't START? If it won't CRANK the battery is dead, the starter is shot, or the engine is seized.

 

If you were 5 quarts low, then it wasn't showing on the dipstick as originally states. There's a mistake here somewhere. "safe mode" buys you nothing if you're out of oil. If its out of oil, the only safe thing you can do is turn it off.

 

I thought I had said before that it cranks but just wont start or "fire up". I added five quarts and it brought it up to the "full" mark on the dip stick. I used 5W-20 just like it says to use on the oil cap and in the owners manual. I have seen no signs of any oil leaks. Im estimating that it has been probably 2500 miles since I changed the oil. I don't need maintenance tips, I know I should have changed the oil more frequently and checked it frequently. But like I said, I didn't think it would have been that low that fast.

 

Oh and the oil pressure guage went from its normal position (halfway between low and high) all the way to the low mark (as low as the guage will go). This is when it first happened. I was driving and everything was normal, then when I gave it a little gas going up a little hill, the truck started sputtering. Then my check guage warning came on and I looked at the oil pressure guage and watched it drop from the "normal" position to all the way low. I immediately pulled over and turned it off and had it towed. No loud noises or anything, just the low clicking noise as I was pulling over. I turned it off myself but once I got it towed home I added the oil and tried to start it up but it wouldn't start up. Cranks but wont start.
