Unhappy Bosch Plat. +4 spark plugs

Does anybody know if Bosch makes the Plat. + 4 spark plugs for the 1999 4.2 V-6? I've tried everywhere in town that carries Bosch and nobody has them.

Thumbs up

Gotcha covered here. AUTOZONE carries the full line of +4 plugs for the 4.2, 4.6, and 5.4L V Motors....I recommend the double platinum Motorcraft however...

Katmandu- I tried Autozone and they said that they don't have them out for the 1999 4.2 yet. I asked them if the +4's for the 1998 would work and they said no. I'm gonna call Bosch today and see if they are available for the 4.2 yet.

Hey Kat,
So tell us all - why the Motorcraft plugs? What is it about these plugs do you like? Personally, I like using Ford parts whenever possible. Let us know what you think.

Thanks in advance.

The Bosch plugs don't need platinum tips on the 4 electrodes. Electricity takes the path of least resistance. Once one of the electrodes wears down, the spark will jump to the next and so on. You'd think the Bosch plugs would last forever. Is this a good guess? LOL

I have about 7K on my 99 f150 5.4l V8

Is there any benefit to changing to platinum plugs now, or should I just wait another 20-30k miles?

thanks

The trucks come from the factory with platinum plugs. Ford says they can go about 100,000 miles. I'm changing mine at about 40,000. Go ahead and run your a while longer.
