Input needed

Hey guys, im new to this whole forum setup but it seems like the best allaround collection of people knowledgeable in ford pickups.
So i have quite a few questions. First off, my 2005 f150 with the 5.4 just hit 80,000 miles. Ive completed most of the tune up i figured it needed, changed fluids and filters, installed a spectre cai, and went to change the spark plugs and was told not to do it by myself. Most shops are saying itll cost between 300 and 500, does that sound right? What other ideas are there on how to increase the performance of my truck through maintenance?
The front suspension is rough to say the least, it tends to bounce after hitting speed bumps and potholes, so im looking at installing those complete strut assemblies. Any input on that?
Since i installed my cai, doesnt matter if the trucks warm or cold, going 10 or 70, if i give it alot of gas all at once the rpms jump through the roof, i hear the intake sucking air like crazy, but i dont feel any increase in speed. What the heck did i do to my truck?

Put the stock intake back on it. a CAI doesn't do anything for you except make noise unless you get a programmer and custom tune.

You do need to change the plugs. A BUNCH of threads here in the V-8 and the 2004-2008 forums about them.

The best things you can do for your Ford truck is keep it all Ford.. Get rid of the HOT air intake and change your plugs. Keep your oil clean and changed regularly. in the 3v engine thats crucial. Your way past due for the plug change Ford recommends doing it at 60 k..
