a ford with a heartbeat?
Dave's right. It would be alot easier just to go to a Windsor. Very similiar motor to the 302, just bigger cubes. To answer your question, I would thing it would be quite simple to go from fuel injection to carburetion. Gut out all the electrical/computer mumbo jumbo, remove the electrical 26psi fuel pump from the tank and install a regular 7psi fuel mechanical. If you would like to learn more, I'm sure the guys over @ www.ford-trucks.com would be willing to help you out. I still say your better off with a Windsor.
You know that the minute someone tells you not to, you have to!
In my humble opinion and not to offend anyone, nothing is more boring then seeing the same mods to the same car/truck over and over... let's see- same K&N filter, same bug shield, same tires, same running boards, same everything. Yeah they look good but... (Then again who has lots o' money for a real custom these days?) My idea of something different would be to drop a built good old Ford flathead engine under the hood. Weird yeah but what the heck ! As soon as this V6 craps out (Ford quality - yeah sure) look out !

this is my idea of different, but functional
a 5.4 lightning motor in a harley davidson supercrew
a cobra 4.6 in a short bed, regular cad with a 5 speed and 4.10 gears. lowered with 20 inch rims
a 4.2 v-6 with an aftermarket cam, ported heads and intake with an intercooled supercharger making around 350 h.p with a 5-speed.
i promise that if you should up with any of the 3 no one would think they were boring
A flathead in a new truck? more power to ya!

Donate54,
To put a 460 in you would need 460 motor mounts, front shocks/springs, diff trans (C-6 prefered), radiator, driveshaft (depending on trans), ditch the CPU (probably need a new wiring harness)and either take out the electric fuel pump for a manual or (I believe, don't quote me on this but can verify it) disconnect return line to the tank for a manual fuel pump. The majority of parts can be found at the dealer or a junkyard. If you go big block and can find one go for the 70-71 429 SCJ block (4 bolt) and get the Ford Motorsport SCJ heads. That should be a good start on your project.
As far as a 350 or GM motor gos, go to a excellent fabricator/welder as they are good at setting up weird\non factory stuff (for the most part it should be easy due to the size of the vechile). I've been a Ford guy all my life (even though Dad sold Chevys in the 60's)and would stick to Ford power but the blttom line is, it's your truck and do what you like to it.
Hope this helps
