NEW PRODUCT????????
I was wondering if anyone has tried or knows
of anyone that has tried a new turbine intake www.roarinc.com. it says in truckin magazine
that it is a motorized fan that forces cold
air into the intake and generates as much force as a vehicle moving 90 mph even while
the truck is sitting still. it states that it
gives noticebaly H/P with extraordinary
throttle response sounds to me it might be
a cheaper version of supercharging just might
WORK??

240cfm not much for a V8.
Might get one for my Honda. NOT!!
A 40watt fan is so insignificant the blades probably slow the air more than they help it.

This one really gets into the "something for nothing" category. All machines operate at some inefficiency, they have to or perpetual motion would be possible (and my Thermo professor would be making an honest living, but that's another story.)
Lets assume this fan actually does produce horsepower gains (which I doubt). Whatever that amount is it HAS TO BE less than the power the fan motor consumes in running. Losses between the alternator and the fan motor are real but negligible, so we'll call that one even. But the alternator consumes more additional mechanical power than it produces in electrical power, and that power comes from the engine, which in turn comes from the fuel.
So unless the aforementioned Thermo prof was as full of crap as I thought at the time (30 odd years ago) then hooking this gizmo up to your engine actually either costs power or consumes more fuel to make up for the power it wastes. Superchargers do consume more fuel , but they move a lot of air at a fair amount of pressure in a closed environment and are reasonably efficient. This thing looks like a miniature window fan, and is probably every bit as efficient.
I think I'll pass.

F-trucks,
Thats an interesting looking product. Not a replacement for a turbo or supercharger, but it could have some potential.
From the looks of it will use some electrical amperage, probably create some amount of noise and probably create some additional horsepower. If you get one I'd step up the maintenance of your airfilter as it will constantly be drawing in more air.
If you get it, let us know how it works and what you think. Oh yeah, what's it cost?

This system comes under the heading of snake-oil.
240 cfm ?!!!
Maybe it makes electrical power as the fan and motor are DRIVEN by the intake air.
