Angry Fuel Filter Problems

Help! I just spent an hour and a half trying to change my fuel filter. I have the tool to diconnect the lines. Everything is smooth except removing the front line. I claim to have de-pressurized the line by pressing the schraeder valve on the fuel rail on the engine. Would too much pressure keeping the front line from coming off? DO I need to go through disconnecting the inertia swithc, etc.? The rear line comes off like a charm. I finally got frustrated and put in back together and left in for tomorrow. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. The Ford dealer wants $20 to change the filter (using my filter) or $38 if they supply the filter...this seems like too easy of a chore to pay that!

Nothing beats a good old hose clamp. Anyway.. I'd give it a squirt of WD40 and give it another try. I was using a tool that only fit 3/4 around the fuel line and kept having a heck of a time. Finally I went and bought one that fits 360 degrees around and haven't had any troubles. I guess the trick is to get the retaining clips over the lip of the tool and PULL! Good luck.

Dam Ford dealers! For the $$ they want you can buy a couple filters, the tool and maybe stop for a burger for lunch!

Angry

A friend of mine and I changed ours on both of our trucks on day, a man, I'll tell ya, they don't make'm like the used to! He has an older styled 96 F-150 with a 4.9 straight 6 (nice engine) His filter (using that stupid little plastic tool that I can't believe we had to buy) poped in and out in about a minute. Keep in mind, his was the original filter with lots of guck and muck and etc. stuck to it. So, next was mine. Back line Pop! no prob. Front, STUCK. It took us about 30 minutes of tugging, and yanking and pulling until it finally gave. The fear is, which I'm sure all of us have experienced) is yanking hard enough that we break something. Stupid braket eh? Sorry for the long posting, but the moral of the story is keep trying, you'll get it off. Now if only I could do something about these rear drums...lol...
