Some help identifying an aluminum 5.4 intake

My intake on my Excursion has cracked and I am in a need of a new one preferably an aluminum one. I was able to find one in the classifieds in another forum but I am not certain it will fit on my Excursion. My main concern is that heater hose that comes up from the intake; my plastic intake does not have this so how would this work when I go to swap it out?

Here are some pictures of the intake:

Overall, does this look like a PI intake? And will it go on to my Excursion without much hassle?

Have the guy flip it over and take a picture. That's THE ONLY way you'll be able to confirm PI or NOT.

Just the 1999 F150's that came with the 5.4L V8's had aluminum PI intakes.

That's The ONLY one. The Vans and F250's never seen one. Just the half tons.

Intake ports of the PI intakes are squarish in comparison to the non PI. Non PI ports are tear drop shaped.

If your deal falls thru and if your still interested in purchasing a 99 Aluminum Intake for your truck, - post up. They're hard to find, but I bet I could find at-least 5, - in 10 minutes time lol.

Wanna bet

I will try to get some pics of the intake upside down. He claims he pulled the engine out of a 1999 F250 if that makes a difference.

How about that heater hose...how will that work out for me since my current intake does not have this.

When you find a PI aluminum intake, you would need the heater hoses for a 99. They are different lengths being they route to different locations vs the composite manifold. Maybe you can cut the ones you have if they need to be shorter? I don't remember if they have fittings on both ends. If one end just has a clamp then I don't see why, other than the preformed bends that they have that you could not just cut it and use it. I used my 99 mani on the 00 or 01 (i forget) engine I put in and just used my old heater hoses.

I use to assemble these engines from 2001 to 2006 so based on that, this looks like it would fit a Excursion. The 5.4's for E-F 250/350 etc shared the same type of engine. This looks like that type of intake anyways, it's been a while since I've seen one but the tube on the back reminds me of it.

HOWEVER, check where the black throttle cable bracket is. Straight ahead. All that model 5.4's had the throttle body turned to the driverside like a Lightning has. Also, in those years we made a few 4.6's that had an aluminum intake and it actually looks exactly like this one. My advice, pass, I think it's a 4.6 one if not an older non PI intake from a 5.4. Hope this helps, like I said it's been a while since I've seen the differences first hand!

The 99 F250s w/5.4Ls DID NOT receive the upgraded PI heads the F150 did in 1999. I thought I posted this already lol.

Yea the 3/4 tons FINALLY came w/factory PI heads in and around 2001.

Good Luck

My bad, he said he got it off of a 2001 Super Duty. Things just don't match up so at this point I am just going to pass up on that intake.

Back to that heater hose. Where does the heater hose route to with the composite manifold...I've looked but I am just not finding it.

It routes to the front coolant crossover on the composite manifold. On the aluminum manifold it is in the back passenger side.

Yea, I haven't actually performed that conversion yet. You have right?

I know it's not that difficult.

Ahh, I got you now. The composite's equivalent heater hose is on the front crossover that is prone to leaking correct?
