K&N FIPK Review
Hello there,
I just purchased a K&N FIPK. Here's the review from top to bottom.
The instructions were not so clear, both in terms of the quality of the images and in the wording of the instructions themselves.
K&N put one more of every small part in with the kit. This is very good thinking of k&n, kudos to them.
The install took about 2 hours to complete.
The truck started up just fine right after.
Low-end improved little, almost nothing. I can tell b/c wheelspin off the line has not increased.
However, top-end (3000+ rpm) is a different story. The engine rips out a muscular hurl through the exhaust, and it pulls like a champ, significantly better than before. Throttle response has increased dramatically.
Of all the things that that FIPK added, besides the power, the sound was the best. It added a resonant and more deep sound to it.
The only downside is the noise that it makes. It creates a loud sucking noise, even when you let off the throttle for a bit. But its great because you can hear that throttle body open up and hear the power get created lol....
My suggestion is to do the K&N FIPK along with a freer-flowing exhaust. They work hand in hand. I think it is the best bang for the buck mod that one can do, simply b/c a superchip requires premium fuel which costs more in th long run. However, yes you have guessed it, a superchip is next up on the list for my mods!
Is there any other bolt-on performance items that I can add??

Hi modestroman
You can add underdrive pulleys, electric fans, shift kit, also change the factory Y pipe. I will also be ordering a superchip for my truck next week.
I hope this helps.
Larry.

If you don't want to run the premium fuel for the superchip, there are other chips available for making the transmission run like it should (super-duty).
I ordered the Gale Banks Trans-command chip yesterday. You should check it out:
