I threw the P0125 code yesterday, and decided to just go ahead and change both the Tstat and the ECT sensor. The only problem is, I have no clue where the ETC sensor is located. Truck is an '01 4.6 2 wheel drive. Can anybody tell me where this is located?

 

After checking numerous posts all over the net, if it is supposed to be by the wiring housing for the alternator. There is what looks like a factory plug in there. I have seen several different things saying the '01's didn't have them, and some saying the 4.6's did, but not the 5.4's. Can someone just verify this for me?

 

Not really. Some did, others didn't. Just look lol.

If you don't have one, then it's the CHT sensor that's responsible.

 

Just replace the thermostat and be done with it.

The 01 4.6 doesn't have an ETC [sic] sensor.
