Angry Poor Poor Expy

I went to a dealer today for a minor repair and there was a '99 Expy that had the body raised up over the frame, I asked what was wrong and they said it needs a head gasket and the easiest way to replace one was to raise the body up completely over the frame. The frame, with engine, tranny and wheels was just sitting there and the body was overhead supported by a large hoist. Looks like warranty otherwise big bucks.

Sounds really bizarre, but when you look under the hood and see the 'general' location of where the rear bolts for the intake and exhaust, and head bolts are, it may be the most efficient method. That's one expensive set of gaskets!

I saw a mechanic take the bed off a S-10 to change a fuel pump. Same thing, less time to remove the body than access it with it on.

I also had to take the bed off my S-10 to repace the fuelpump/sending unit..Getting to it under the bed was totally out of the question.
