Wont start....Need some help.

Im in a pretty bad situation here! heh Truck just plain out wont start......Heres the rundown up to this point as far as I know: The last person who drove the truck was my mom, brought it to my house parked in driveway, shut it off done. I go to start it a few days later, it cranks over very slow, brand new battery. Pop the hood and notice somehow the green vac line came off the egr (kinda werid). So i take the alternator in for testing and it is bad, I buy a brand new one and put it in, charge the battery back up, cleaned the terminals, cables real good and everything is nice and shiny clean. Go to start it and it cranks over just fine and "stumbles" every now and then, like a few cylinders hit but still nothing. Ill say I havent done any tests on anything yet just so you guys know. Checked the fuses, none blown. Vac lines are all connected. 1 thing i did do is release the pressure on the passenger fuel rail a couple times after i cranked it, and there was some pressure on it and gas came out but im not sure if that can tell me im getting fuel or not. Any other suggestions on what could be the problem or things to check that I missed? Thanks.

Monitor the voltage. Since your alt was dead, it could have put a strain on the battery... even a new one with a fresh charge. Check the voltage at the terminals and also check it under load while trying to start it. Or a simple way is to turn your headlights on while trying to turn it over and look to see how bad they dim. Listen for the pump, should prime with the key on, engine off position. You can also check the inertia switch, passenger kick panel. Fuel pressure test..

Thanks for the info After I posed and before you did, I checked for fuel. Was getting fuel coming out of the line at the filter from the tank and fuel at the passenger side rail so it was priming. I dont have a multi meter to check the voltage so I couldnt do that. I had a mechanic stop by after work to check it out and he checked the fuel @ the rail, then pulled a cop to check for spark and it was getting spark....So while im cranking it with nothing happening, he pushes the throttle plate open a few times while the #2 cop it out with a plug in it checking spark and the truck starts! WTF? He didnt speak good English but he told me that when you change electrical parts on it you have to leave the key turned to "on" position for about 10 mins.....I didnt understand it but whatever, the truck was started. I watched him the whole time and that is all he did.....Earlier in the day today I tried a different (used) battery along with my freshly charged new battery and disconnecting it to clean the terminals a few times. So im stuck here wondering how this truck started with what he did? The only thing that was different with myself and him is the truck sat for a few hours with the charged new battery connected...Anyone have any logic to this?
