Fuel Milage Issues

Hello fellow F150 owners, I have a 2002 F150 XLT with the 5.4l engine. I have almost 160,000 miles. I had a recall done on the fuel tank alittle over a minth ago and ever since then my fuel milage has been worse. I asked the dealership what they did and they said nothing but replaced the straps one at a time, never dropped the tank. So does anyone have any ideas on why this might be happening. I used to go all week on a tank of gas and now I fill up twice. I have been getting about 11 miles per gallon. Oil and breather are changed regularly and plugs are about 5 months old. Thanks for the help.

many possibilities....
yes, getting the tank re-secured may have created a leak somewhere on the fuel lines? couldn't hurt to have them recheck things.

might be just a coincidence that this happened. & it might be that you got a heavy dose of winter blend fuel, which can drop MPGs pretty good. Mine too has taken a pretty good dip in economy ( we have similar mileage) & I use the word economy very loosely.

1st check for vacuum leaks and clean the throttle body housing & interior ports, MAF sensor and IAC....once those are handled ...& you still get lower than normal MPGS then other issues maybe lurking. Like bad wheel bearing or suspension is need of attention...brakes hanging up (like the E brake , if equipt with rear disc)...etc or maybe you're due for new plugs and COPS??

As of today I am getting about 140 miles to 3/4 a tank of gas. I have new plugs only 5 months old. I do not smell gas at anytime or see gas leaking anywhere. I have new brakes and had the front end checked 3 weeks ago. I am going to clean the MAF and change the fuel filter for starters and then go from there.

I was getting bad mileage for a bit a few weeks ago, but its been short trips, i took a long trip like 300 miles round trip and it seems to have cleaned something out, i happened to unhook the battery the day before, and now i am getting close to 16 on the high way. i got 164xxx on mine, i been averaging like 160 on 1/4 of a tank, but my right foot is really heavy
