Post F-150 Engine Replacement

I have a 4.2 in my truck, and have been looking at Super Duties to replace this truck in a few years. Realistically, I am not going to have the $40k for a SuperDuty anytime in the next 10 years or so, given family and other responsibilities.

My question is, will a V-10 fit under the hood of my F-150? If so, will my 25 gallon fuel tank be adequate? What transmission should I mate the new engine?

If not, what is the best-towing V-8/transmission combination I could go with? If I could spend $4000 or so in a few years versus trading in this truck, losing money, and having something that's still not as fast as I *could* have--then I'd rather take that option.

Any replies are appreciated.

This is a joke right? All right - I'll take it seriously. No V10's in anything other than Superdutys. F-150 can handle a 5.4, but to swap it in from a 4.2, augh, the computer...? Would be like teaching a computer to understand Kanji, not to mention motor mounts and cable harnesses, etc. As the say, anything can be done with enough time and money. Bring lots of both and find only the best ford truck center for 500 miles.

In high school (awhile back!!!) I had a friend with a 350 dropped into a VEGA, yes, a VEGA, lots of customized work on the engine compartment, it drove like crap, handled like a camel on steroids under water!

So, can it be done...probably, should you? that's not something I could answer!

$40k ? check www.edmunds.com

i didn't check all the exceptions, but you should be able get into a V-10 SD with over 7-tons of towing for only a little over $18k. then of course you slather on the toys.

Mike,
Got my Crew Cab Lariat 4x4 Super Duty for 29000 plus TT&L. Take of the larait,4x4,sliding window, trailer package, off-road package....etc you could get it down to around 25000 for a 2wd V10. Take off the crew cab and get another couple of grand off.It would be much more economical to buy a new Super Duty(or used?) than trying to do that kind of engine swamp.

Im making a F250SD and the Lariat package is 5000$! Most people dont need the , so they get the XLT. XLT is 3000$. The Crew Cab is another 3000-4000$. Supercab is 2000$. But it wont let ya get the V10 with a supercab. Thats odd. Oh, well, have fun making a SD.
