I am buying a 2006 Expy Eddie Bauer and will pick up on Tuesday. Its in great shape with only 54000 miles but I need to decide i should buy the Ford extended warranty when I sign the final papers. I know the 2003-05s had cam phaser issues. Did the 06s have them too? Anything else i should consider in my decision? How reliable are the transmissions? I also am aware of the broken plug issues but am not too worried about that. I got a stellar deal on this, so my plan is to keep it until i hit 99K and trade on something else.

I had a 2000 Expy and never had any power train problems other than coils in 145K miles.

i have a 2006 and my cam phasers started rattling at 100k and i just changed them like 2 weeks ago at over 130k,i think the 2008's dont have this issue.(i think)Looks like a good deal with low miles,but you never know when you might need that warranty...
