The main reason the 04 plugs break is they didn't put antiseize on the sleeves at the factory. They didn't start applying it till 05.

I finally built up the courage to tackle the plug change in my 06 5.4 3v, It has 49000 on it. I went back with the MC Double Platinum. The original plugs were a PIA to brake loose, I was for sure every one of them was going to break off when first trying to get them broke loose. I got the 1st one on the drivers side broke loose 1/4 turn and sprayed carb cleaner in the plug well and let it sit, by the time I got to the back cylinder I stared back at the front slowly working them back & forth 1/8 turn and they came out just fine. I managed to get all 8 of them out without breaking one Must have been because I bought the $65 removal tool just in case lol. All the old plugs had right at .100 gap, no wonder the gas mileage had went to crap.

After having the dealer do the plugs and PCM update, it seems like it runs and drive better. I didn't ask what the PCM update was. I have to go back in a couple of weeks and will ask.
