Help with motor swap

Question Help with motor swap

Hi I don't know if I was suppose to continue my last thread on this subject,or start another one so I apologize if IM wrong im new to "forums".Please any help will be greatly appreciated my question is!

I have a 2002 F150 Supercrew W/4.6 2wheel drive Windsor

I want to swap it with a 97 Expedition W/4.6 Windsor motor 2

Will everything match up,or is there anything I'M gonna have to do?


Also should I use the heads,plenum,intake from the 02 motor?

Yeah,,,If you have another thread on this same questing. You should of brought it back up there.
If ya put the PI heads on,you raise the compression ratio to the point that you may need to run premium fuel or have custom tuning .
Other then that,should be a pretty straight forward swap.

Help with swap

Thank you phil6608 i appreciate your help,about the custom tune.Do you mean i might need to get a programmer/chip thing?Or would i have to actually take it somewhere to have it done?Thanks again!

You cant just use an out of the box tuner.
You will ether have to go have it done or talk to one of the guys that do custom tuning and tell them what you have done so they can give you a tune for that specific setup.
Troyer for one and theres others also.
Look in the tuning section or supercharger section for who they are....I forget...lol

OK i will look into that!The only reason im considering changing them is i keep reading how much better they are,hopfully they help on gas milage i really dont need anymore power if i was gonna change for power then i wouldnt keep the 4.6 anyways thanks again!

Well the 97 -4.6 has less power. Not sure of the number ,but I think about 30HP less.
By putting the PI heads on,it would make up for that anyway.
