Leaf springs
Leaf springs
Has anyone else had a problem with the center leaf cracking on their 97 f-150?
I have both cracked and a 3" chunck of the spring is missing out of the middle...on both sides
I called Ford and they won't do anything about it. They say it was serviced according to the recall in 98 and that is all they will do.. This is a bunch of crap. The recall states that the springs are weak and can break. So there idea to fix this was to put a clip on it just so it doesn't hit the fuel tank. Except it doesn't fix the real problem which is the springs will crack......
Anyone know of any other way to get them to fix this screwup?
I mean *****, I have 6 damn Fords and have always bought them, 2 of which have well over 300,000 miles on them and those leaf springs never cracked....
What's up!

Hi
Ford has to fix it there is a TSB on that exact leaf spring problem. Just do a search for it in the tsb area and take the numbers and or a print out of this to them and make them fix it. be mean if you have too they dont like to fix anything.

97, being mean is the worst thing you can do. 1st of all, did you call the Ford customer assistance center or your dealer? If you called Ford, those people are nothing but a bunch of "suits" sitting behind a desk that don't even work for Ford! They won't help with anything. The best thing is to contact your dealer. Owning 6 Fords, you must have someone that you deal with regularly- not a salesman either, I mean someone in service. Also, just because there is a TSB, that doesn't mean Ford has to fix it. TSB means Technical Service Bulletin. They are meant to help techs fix common problems with vehicles and most of the repairs will be covered under the original 36/36 warranty only! Talk to the service manager at the dealership you deal with. Tell him your problem and ask him/her to talk to their Ford rep. You might get some help there! Good luck.
