Question HP of 93 5.0 and diffrences to H.O.

Ok I am new to these american trucks (but I sure love my F-150!) my 1993 F-150 4X2 Flare Side has the 5.0 (302) non-HO engine I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much HP a stock 5.0 non-HO did in 93 ? Also what would it take to convert the motor over to a HO ? thanks !

Nope, the non-HO 5.0's put out 205hp. HOs put out 225. Check out www.carpoint.msn.com and this has all the info you'll ever need, well almost all.

The non-HO car engines were 205HP, I'm pretty sure Neal is right about 185HP in the truck.
Basically, the truck engine and the HO have very little in common. The HO has mass air, a roller cam with a 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 firing order, dual cat pairs on an H-pipe and dual exhausts, with some internal changes such as higher compression hypereutectic pistons and higher flowing heads as well.

If you really want to convert to an HO, find a wrecked '93 Mustang (rather plentiful) and get it's engine, processor and underhood wiring harness. Or get just the engine and get the SVO EFI mass air conversion kit (M-9000-T50 for manual trans, "-T51 for automatic.) The mass air kit will not work with your standard 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 firing order, so if you keep your engine, you'll need a new cam. Your engine can be converted to a roller cam and your heads can be made to flow as well as the HO heads, etc. but by the time you've done all that, you could have done the HO swap twice over.

There is a fly in the ointment though. If you live in an area where you have to smog check your vehicle, you might not be legal, depending on the state laws. Check first with some local speed shops, etc.

They have 205 because I had two Fords with the 5.0. A 93 and 95. Both 5.0 with 205hp {my salesman said so}.

Actually your both right. The 5.0 had 185hp right after getting fuel injection in 1985 and stayed that way until around 92-93 when it was raise to 205. I am not aware of any real changes made to the engine, so the increase may have been on paper. Anybody with this engine should get a performance exhaust system. It really wakes it up!
