Ok, I have seen 3 different chips out there.... Jet, Hypertech, Superchip.. I am ready to buy so please give input.....

Who is the better, cost, overall driveability, performance.

HI 97F1504by4,

Everyone here who has tried both the Superchip and either a Hypertech or a Jet on the same vehicle has always posted that they preferred the Superchip, as it adds more power, it tunes at all throttle positions where the others do not, and the Superchip is also the only one of those 3 that is made specifically for each individual vehicle, the others are completly "generic".

With the Superchip, you get a performance program that is made to precisely match the exact software revision in your individual vehicle's powertrain computer, so that you get a performance program made specifically that *that* vehicle, and not one that has been compromised to run on all similar vehicles. This is very important for getting the best results, as there are hundreds of different factory software revisions each model year in these F-150's, and the only way to fully optimize that powertrain program is to make a different program for each factory revision, as we do.

If you'd like to be able to speak to someone to get all the various details, etc., please give us a shout by phone or email, we'll be happy to go over that with you so you can give it some thought.

Best of luck with your truck,

I have no experience with the Jet or Hypertech chips.
My decision to go with a SuperChip was based primarily on the feedback of previous posts as Mike Troyer states above. Another reason is the after-purchase support that Mike affords those who do have difficulty in installation, troubleshooting or enhancements.
Although I only have 200 miles since installation, I am quite pleased with the performance characteristics of the chip.

You might want to check out the Diablo Chip. Most people agree that it's a superior designed chip, because it fits *inside* the computer, not piggy-back style. Makes Computer "fit" better on some models that have bracket interference. Also, Diablo tunes in "very precise increments", not just at Wide Open Throttle.

Hope that helps.

From JET's Tuning Introduction:

"The programming changes to each JET chip are extensive and include modified spark advance tables, air fuel ratio modification, torque converter lockup (in automatics), shift improvement in electronic automatic transmission and various other parameters to optimize the torque and horsepower curve for each individual application. Chassis Dynamometer tuning allows JET to develop a specific program for each application.
Every vehicle is first tested in a stock configuration to get baseline dynamometer and track times. To do this the vehicle is connected to JET's custom data acquisition system to monitor various sensors. Engine temperature, spark advance and air/fuel ratios, all this data is then recorded and stored away for later comparison.
From there we start to modify the spark advance and fuel curve in 500 rpm increments until we achieve the maximum torque and horsepower at the drive wheels in each rpm and load range, this allows turning under all types of various driving conditions and not just wide open throttle, a decisive advantage to the JET chip!"
