truck will not start

I have a 02 5.4l i have had trouble starting it the last couple days. would take like 2 or 3 turn of the key for it to start. Now with new battery and after sitting for a week it well not start at all but well turn over. I looked for codes using my sct tunner but nothing.

what should i look at next? pulled some plugs after trying to start it they looked ok wasn't a real strong smell of gas.

98K miles on the truck

Get a fuel pressure gauge. Might want to replace the fuel filter if its been awhile if that doesn't fix it do the fuel pressure check.

Here is some more to try, -

Reset to stock, then crank. You can't crank these engines more than 4 seconds. The PCM shuts the injectors down.

Also, if the lines were sucked dry, you may have to bleed thru the shrader at least once.

Other than that, do you hear the pump charge the lines ? 90,000 miles is about average for the factory pump. Quite a few go out right about then.

Crank it for 3 seconds. Leave Key On. Touch the FP relay. Is it warm or hot ? Yes ? Replace.

If the pump is not charging the lines, if you do not hear it. - Turn key to run, -hit the bottom of the tank right in the center. Did it activate ? Yes ? Replace pump.

Thanks. Going to get a fuel pressure gauge today.

Fuel Pump relay wasn't hot/warm.

I only heard like a buzzing sound in the tank and it just keeps buzzing doesn't stop. when i hit the tank nothing happened.

If it KEEPS buzzing, it's not building up enough pressure. Your fuel filter is clogged or the pump itself is shot.
