Question Question about Triton engines....

What is the difference between the truck's 4.6 and the mustang's 4.6? I read this somewhere before but can't find it out now. Also, will any parts(heads, intake, etc.) swap between the two? Thanks for any info. This board is awesome.

lets see, the truck probably has a different cam and has different timing controlled by the computer to make peak torque at lower rpm's than the mustang 4.6. on the flip side, the mustang makes more hp at higher rpm's than the truck does. the truck engine makes ~239 peak horsepower. and the mustang makes about 260 hp.

hope this helps.

if your thinking about swapping, i guess it requires more than just swapping out the physical engine. you may have to consider the computer and various engine management components.

Post 4.6 in stang

I caught a peek of one in a mustang and noticed that the throttle body was on the drivers side whereas mine was in the front. Could'nt tell you much else about internal parts though.
