Post 4.6 for 2000

Has anybody actually seen specs for the 2000 4.6 showing 240 HP in the F150? None of the info on the 2000 models shows an increase in power. In fact, I saw some specs for the Supercrew and they listed the standard engine as the 4.6 with 220 HP.

The only thing I have seen so far is a Ford Fleet Ordering Guide for 2000. It does not say anything about a horsepower increase for the 4.6L. The only thing it does say is that the 4.6L will now have Coil-On-Plug Ignition.

One other interesting note in this guide, is that it says there will no longer be an F-250 Light Duty. The F-250LD is redesigned as an F-150 with a Heavy Duty Payload Package.

Fast: they're not saying no power increase!! Just that they haven't seen any info supporting power either way. Keep your fingers crossed, maybe some info will come out soon...

I don't know for sure that there is no power increase, but the "Preliminary Specifications" for the 2001 SuperCrew Truck on Blueovalnews.com lists 220 HP for the 4.6. The key word is "preliminary". Maybe there will be an increase. It just seems like something would have leaked out about it by now. It really makes no since not to put 240HP in the Expedition and 220HP in the F150.

Cool

Fast46: No or at least not right away. After all the "minor" problems: door crack, leaky slider ect. I'm going to wait and actually drive a few on the lot first. After all, I've fixed my leaky slider and my doors not cracked, mines chiped and runs fantastic. The scratches on it are'nt too noticable and it's payed for!!! (a real plus)

Like I said, the book I have is called, "Year 2000, Ford Fleet Vehicle Guide" and the print date is 4/99. In this book, it lists all 2000 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. It does say that the Super Duty engines will get increases as follows: 5.4L, V-8 - 260hp. and 6.8L, V-10 - 290hp. This does not mean that Ford did not decide something different since April, when this book was printed.

Hey guys, the 4.6 has a lot more potential for hp from the factory. My son just bought a 99 Mustang Cobra and the 4.6 in it is 320hp from the factory. I know it is 32 valve set up and the power range is much higher rpms. I just don't know how much more this engine can be tweaked for practical application is a truck that may be used for it's supposed purpose of towing and hauling.
