2005 5.4 triton engine ( wtb )

Guys,
I am an absolute novice when it comes to engines.
I have a 2005 f 150 with a blown engine.
Looking for good advise on where to pick one up or if anyone has one for sale.
Love this truck and want to keep it, 160,000 on blown eng. Tried to rebuild with a unreputable mechanic and has cost me alot of money. I just want my truck back!

What is blown on the current motor? It may be salvageble for another rebuild. I just rebuilt mine in my garage. Sent the block to a local machine shop for prep. Cost me a total of about $2700 to do the rebuild. Another great option is just to buy a bare block from FRP and rotating assy from several vendors like Modular Max Racing. Where do you live?

Wow, have you been reading my mail?! Thats exactly my story only with 145k miles. I'm on my second mechanic now and $4,400.00 so far invested. I'm with you, I love my truck and just want to drive it again!

Look at low miles used ones. Maybe you could find one out of a newer truck that has updated all the issues the early 3v engines have. Thats what I would do. I would bet theres a nice engine sitting in a JY you could get for less then the cost of a rebuild and in the end its a better engine..
