Post Missing cylinder

I have a 1999 F-150 with 54,000 miles on it. I got in it today and it felt like a cylinder was missing. I drove it to the Ford place down the street to let them look at it. We drove around the block and it felt like it was running on 7 cylinders. The Ford guy riding with me wanted to keep driving it until the service engine light came on.

I did not want to keep driving it for fear of what could be wrong. While we were riding he told me of a condensation leak from the AC over the 4th cylinder could be causing it. We stopped and the 4th cylinder was wet. He told me that the cable needed to be replaced and they would check for other damage.

He told me that this problem was from 96-99 F150’s has anyone else heard of this. If so how much was it to fix? I think that if it was a problem and they knew about it, it should not be that expensive.

Thanks for you help,

I've heard that it's the heater hose that will leak onto the # 4 plug. If you have the 5.4, you usually have to replace the coil pack. On the 4.6, I would think you'd just have to dry it out, but then it could have damaged the "main" coil for that side. Not sure on that one.

All you need to do is tighten the hose clamp that's above the cylinder. I'm sure Ford will replace the coil if it's still under warranty. No warranty, then I think the tab is yours.

Thanks for the info. It is not under Warranty. I hope that is the only problem. I am short on funds these days.

Thanks again
