2001 Ford E-150 Econoline V8 4.6 L DPFE

I was looking for an hour and a half for the DPFE sensor on my 2001 ford e150 van so I could test it. It is giving me the EGR Insufficient Flow trouble code, and it only has 22K miles on it, So I figured it is most likely the DPFE. Would somebody be able to give me detailed instructions to locate it, or pictures of where it is? Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's more likely plugged EGR passages in the throttle body. The 4.6 has a habit of that. If you can find the EGR valve, suck test it, the engine should stumble and maybe even stall.

I think it's VERY likely - if most of that mileage is short trip.

still, its easier to take off the dpfe and test it than it is to remvoe the throttle body, pay for new gaskets, etc.

I would just liek to know where the dpfe sensor is, not which problem is more likely

Just do what glc told you and suck test the EGR valve. If the engine stumbles then
check the dpfe, if it doesn't, you will have to clean out the EGR passages like i did.
they were completely plugged. My throttle body gasket was in great shape and I
reused it. Don,t buy a part if you don,t have to. Dpfe sensor on my 97 f-150 is
next to the throttle body with to hoses going to it from the EGR tube which connects
to the exhaust manifold.

It was next to the throttle body on the drivers side on a bracket in my 97 E350. Order it from rock auto if you replace it. Dealers can want over $100 for it and it is a part you should not substitute with an after market. Motorcraft only or you'll be replacing it again..
