06 f150 v8

I'm looking to simply add a little pep to my truck. I just bought it a couple months ago and not sure what direction to go in. It's an 06 150 XLT v8. Nothing done to it, straight stock. I'm not looking to super charge it or anything just looking for something to add a little pick up to the motor. When I hit the gas kinda hard I always feel a little pause then the engine kicks in and jumps but there is a short short pause...

Do I start with a cold air intake?

Looking for suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

which engine do you have? figuring that out is the first step, the second is finding the key and being able to use it properly in the ignition

then do the gotts intake mod and get yourself a custom tune

Stay away from a cold air intake unless you get a tune for it (Lean issues). You can do a gotts mod on the intake, K&N (or there is another that doesn't need oil). Tuner (custom is better[Gryphon]). Exhaust (various configes on this one) Go to you tube and listen to different peoples exhaust to see what you like. Hopefully others will chime in with more ideas! The more you read the more stuff you will buy for your truck!

since the OP doesn't know what motor he/she/it has he/she/it might not have a lean issue

secondly there are other tuning devices besides the Gryphon

I have the 5.4 Triton V8 2006 F-150.

Now when you say a tune (and forgive me as I'm new to this) are you saying to get your chip programmed or get a new chip? Also what do you mean when you say "lean issues" with getting a cold air intake? not sure what that means either.

Go over to the tuner section and educate yourself on tuners. I would do the gotts mod and get a tuner. I like the Edge or Gyphon myself because I'm familur with it already mostly but look and see what you like.
