Has anyone had any experience with the Wix filters ? I was wondering if there is much difference between the silver and gold ?

Has anyone else noticed a reduction in engine
noise since they changed to synthetic? I would swear I have but I could be hallucinating.

I definitely noticed a quieter running engine as soon as I switched to synth. So that either means synth *is* quieter running, or we are both hallucinating.

Dear Dondo7,

While NAPA-brand oil filters are manufactured under an OEM agreement with WIX, they are *not* the same quality as the regular WIX branded units, so be careful. This is true of most OEM filters.

You're right in that WIX themselves make very high quality oil filters, it's a great product whose name is really just now starting to become known outside of racing circles.

The silver/gold thing applies to the Napa filters which are apparently also made by Dana and are the same as WIX.

Thanks for the info..I checked out the site

ps398: I used a 16" Perma-Cool High Performance Electric Fan. I mail-ordered it from Jeg's. I posted a long description about it back in April with the topic "electric radiator fan" under "Other Aftermarket". It's been working great, including on 100 degree days in city traffic with the A/C on. But then, I'm only asking it to cool a V6 engine. Don't know how it would do on a V8. There is room for two fans on that wide radiator, if needed.
