2005 5.4 accelerating problem

My 2005 F150 5.4 with 80K mile has a shudder in it. After running on the interstate the other day I got off and stopped at the stop light. When I went to accelerate it stumbled and shock a little. I let off the gas then accelerated again and it was fine. It has done this a couple times no check engine light. Any suggestions where to start??

Start with simply stuff like cleaning the MAF and throttle body. I had the same symptoms at around 90k and it fixed mine. Have you changed the spark plugs yet?

It is not as bad as you think. Just get all the right tools. I had 5 of 8 break. After I figured out how the Lisle tool worked, I didn't care if the next one broke or not. Just a few more minutes of my time to get the broken piece out.

As for you current problem I would also get a bottle of Techron and run it through the tank. Maybe your fuel delivery system is crapped up.

Any CEL or codes? Hope it's not an injector, sure sounds like one from living that nightmare. Look at the 07M08 sticky.

No codes or CEL. However, today I got the check fuel cap display.

Hoping it's not an injector problem too.

That's the sticky he is referring to. I suspect you need plugs.

I'm starting to have a problem with my truck under similar situation only hapened a couple times. Under hard aceleration and the check engine light did come on flashed but went away after a minute. I was getting on to the intersate both times it happened had some dumb *** slow pokes in front of me that don't know you need to be at speed by the time you get off the on ramp. Both times there was no traffic at the merging point so I drifted to the left lane and went WOT to get up to speed quick in stead of gradual like the jerks that were in front of me were doing. The truck started running rough and had no power and the check engine light came on and flashed so I went back to the right lane and coasted for a minte and then graduly got up to speed after the truck went back to running fine. did a couple test WOT and no problem after both cases. Truck has 79k on iit since its an 05 I hope its not the injectors. Any ideas what it could be haven't had a chance to see if the cods could be pulled yet since it flashed a few times and turned back off so don't even know if it stored a code
