This is directed at the original poster - I'm sorry to hear about your bad experiences with 2 separate dealers, but this is DEFINITELY not the norm. My local dealer does a heck of a lot better job than any of the independents around here. In YOUR particular situation, you are fortunate that you have found a local independent that knows what they are doing. You are doing everyone a disservice by generalizing strictly on your particular experience. I also think you should rethink your campaign to discredit Ford dealers in other threads, I firmly believe that your 2 dealers are in a definite minority. The nature of a forum is people are a lot more likely to complain than praise, I'd be willing to bet that a goodly percentage of members are happy with the service provided by their local Ford dealer (assuming that they even use them). I'm definitely happy with Fletcher Ford in Joplin, and there you go - I'm praising them!

I will chime back in and have to say that the Dealer that I do see when I need to does a good job also. They have given me a lot of help..Service and Parts Dept. I didn't really want to put anyone down and I agree the OP has a unique situation there. 'Fletcher Ford'...?? wonder if it has any connection to where I worked many years ago..'Ripley and Fletcher'..in So. Paris, Maine (probably not...

Question COP installation Torque?

Hi all,
I saw in one of the answers pertaing to COP replacement, that you should not tighten them down.
You should leave a little "slack" is that true?
Is there a specific torque for the COP bolts?

Thanks..

Just 'snug' them down, I don't think there is a torque spec for them.

stick a little bit of grease on them I have seen those bolts get stuck on there. The little nut with the teeth on them will strip out the teeth on the plastice intake manifold and the only way to get it out is to take the intake manifold off.

You'll feel it when the the bolt gets snug.....then give it little more......that bolt doesn't firmly hold the cop in place.....the retainer will seem loose....but as long as the bolt is tight you're golden....

The coil should move side to side snugly.. Makes sure the bolt is actually holding the coil. I believe loose coils can cause plug ejections.

Why would the two dealers not think it was a bad coil?
It's true they sent me a young guy who probably had no clue.
I'm just glad I found a local garage that knew what was going on.
I always figured FORD mechanics would know what was the problem.
Even the service manager had no clue. It depresses me that they have no idea,
what may be the problem! They are usless..It's just funny they have no ****ING CLUE..They are pathetic.. The service manager even got wrong with what I ****ing told him what was wrong..They have no clue! They just want the money!

The two dealers did not even mention bad COPS...But a local garage did..
On Monday they will replace all COPS I bought from Global for $100
I can't wait!! They are going to charge me $150 to replace all 8 COPS..
Which is worth it, if it fixes my shutter problem! I'll be happy as a muskrat in a stream!
Or a weasel with a chicken...
