HI!

My 2001 F150 5.4 crew was running great till last Sunday, noting to say about the truck or engine. i tow 10,000lbs toyhauler 5 times per summer. perfect.

Now engine make pinking noise at midrange and suck gaz like ''The Titanic''

have you tried to run codes?
another place to start is to check for vacuum leaks.
does it run well other wise?? idling and so forth.
has the plugs been changed?

 

do the gotts mod for your truck it will increase your top end slighty by allowing your engine to breath better.

another thing is check your fuel filter.

 

Engine run great, no stumble or ésitation.... juste sucking Gas like crazy and pinking like hell. i all ready have a K&N intake kit ( install before a got the truck) and don't know about the code, were do i look for this .

go to your favorite auto parts store, (Autozone, Advanced Auto, O-Reilies, ...etc) and ask to have the codes read. they should do it for free.

 

ok, for the code reader. can i replace the catalyzer can for two ''test'' pipe.

Are you certain that you didn't "over oil" your K&N air filter?? this tends to really mess up the MAF sensor. the oil coat the MAF and makes it give false info.....clean the MAF sensor with correct spray and see if it improves, (most auto supply/parts stores will have MAF cleaner).
