351w engine block year identification

Help,
I recently traded for a 1991 f150 4x4. it's lifted, Big tires etc. after trading for it& getting it home I realized it doesn't have a oil dip stick, NOR a place to put one.
I decided to change the oil pan to one that has a dip stick in it.
Now to the problem, How do I identify the year of the block to get the correct oil pan. I've spent hours on line pondering this & have yet come up with a answer
Help
Paul

if you remove the starter the date code is stamped above it, The dip stick on my Cleveland goes through the block. I dunno about that engine but it might have rusted off the the previous owner might have plugged it or what ever..

jetthat,
thanks for the reply, the engine had been rebuilt 26tho ago and the best I can figure, it's never had a dip stick after the rebuild. I checked all of the places indicated, the block, the oil pan, the timing chain cover, etc. so it looks as though the starter comes off to see the number.
Thanks again for your reply
Paul
