Engine Missing out
Ok. Here is the deal. My pickup just decided to start missing out. It doesn't do it all the time. It does it mostly when pulling little hill, or when you first put it into gear, with the brake still on. The check engine light is on, and when it really starts to miss out, it starts to flash on and off at about 2 second intervals. I just replaced the plugs w/ bosch platinums about 6000 miles ago, and I just replaced the fuel filter today, and the same thing happens. I'd really appreciate any ideas as to what could be the problem. I hate taking it in to ford to get worked on.. they are a bunch of a$$holes around here. Not to mention cost way too much for the quality of service you recieve. Let me have some suggestions! Thanks guys.
Come on guys.. surely someone has had this problem.. Mine is going in the shop tomorrow... I'll let all of you know what it turns out to be.. i'm guessing plug(s) or wire(s)
I know what you mean when you say the Ford dudes are a$$holes. They are the same way around here. It's most likely a fuel delivery problem. Somewhere a coil pack or an injector has gone south. It could even be your fuel pump getting ready to let go. Or it could be something as simple as a loose vaccum line. There are too many variables, but most are fixable at home with a good set of hand tools and a beer-and-pizza-filled sunny Saturday afternoon
I got it fixed yesterday. Pretty much what i was thinking..#3 plug wired was screwed up.... they said it fouled the plug and ruined it too... but for $3.99 i wasn't going to not replace the plug. It cost me $58.00 for the diagnosis... and 11.99 for the ONE wire.. and 3.99 for the bosch triple platinum plug... total it was like 85.xx Not too bad...
