I have an 01 Lightning with a blown (actually blown up!) 5.4. I picked up a 03 5.4 lightning engine at a salvage yard. Its all stock. Is there anything that needs changed like timing stuff or cam/crank sensors? Can I just bolt in the long block with the supercharger? Both trucks are supercharged.

Should be plug and play. The 2000 models are 360/440. In 01 the lightning jumped to 380/450 which is the same spec for 03.

Only difference I can think of is that you might have more threads in the plug chambers.

What did you have to give for that used 03 motor ? 3-4 grand ? Just curious, - how many miles on the 03 ?

 

I paid 2k for the 03 60k I know the heads are suppose to be better for the plug pop out problem. I am going to have a magna charger and 60 Lbs injectors for sale after I un-modify this thing. The guy said it had 25 Lbs of boost. it has a hole in the block the size of my fist!! What is that stuff worth? I will add a couple pics wed I think.
