I am looking for help/guidance in troubleshooting a clicking noise on a 4.6l. It does not sound as metallic at a stuck lifter and sounds like it is outside of the engine. I believe it might be one of the pulleys. I can run it without the serpentine belt but how do I isolate the pulley with the problem?

 

If the noise goes away when the belt is removed, spin each pulley by hand paying particular attention to the tensioner or idler pulley. Also keep your eyes on the A/C
