I have a 04 5.4 and it has a noise coming from bank 2 or the drivers side of the motor in the front like the cam phasers only louder. the computer is throwing a code that says the cam timing is messed up on bank 2 have changed cam sensors and vct solonoids on both sides it runs finewhen cold then whan it warmsup or
at a stop light it may go down to 500 rpms and miss and make all sorts of racket then you can touch gas and bring up to 1000 rpms and it goes away any help would be great thanks ryan

 

How many miles on your 04? I would be willing to bet you have an issue with the timing chain guides or tensioners. I just replaced mine, had similar symptoms as yours. If the tensioners or guides break, then it can jump time on one side of the engine.

 

i Have the same problem i change my throttle even thinking is that...but are u sure..its the chain guides or the tensioners? how much where they?

 

I had the same problem but mine is a 06 can it be the same problem? I change all the same parts and the throttle...it had work for a week good when i bought the VCT both of them.but it started doing the same thing again any suggestion.? Thanks it would help!
