check *****?

I took my 08 F-150 (5.4, 3v) to the dealership yesterday for warranty repair. It was acting like it would slip out of gear (the rpm would increase then return quickly) between 25-30 mph then downshift with a slight clunk. This is the third time it has been in the shop for this problem. The first time they told me it was a bad COP, the second time they reprogramed the computer, this time they are telling me the check ***** are sticking in the valve body. Can someone explain this to me or are they just feeding me a line of BS? All of this has been covered under warranty, but I don't want to have more troubles down the line when repairs are coming out of my pocket. I have ~34K miles on the truck now. Thanks.

there are a series of small ***** inside the passages of the valve body which help control flow in it during certain circumstances. so no they are not feeding you a line.

Thanks for the feedback! They removed the pan and valve body and replaced the check valve ***** and gaskets. The service guy said the check ***** were egg shaped (should be round). I asked if it was something I did or was not doing right and he indicated it must have come from the factory that way. I don't know if it is just my imagination or what, but it sure seems to be running much better now. I don't have to step on the gas quite as much to get her going.

Anytime you have issues with gear lubrication torque thrust, believe a professional when he says you need to check your ***** first.

Sorry, the title threw me off, had to say something.
