sputtering/stalling at light/lack of power.
Hello all,
Long story short, 2001 Expy 5.4 4x2 xlt. Just replaced the fuel pump and filter, truck ran great for a few days and now it sometimes stalls/hesitates real bad at quick stop/go traffic lights and stop signs. It feels like a lack of power or uneven power throughout the power band also. The pump is brand new and the filter is brand new. Any ideas? No codes as of yet.
While I was working on it, it was parked under a bottle brush tree and got really dirty. I took it to a quarter car wash and used the pressure wand. I did not clean under the hood, but did spray alot around the cowl to get the stuff off. Could I maybe have gotten some water near the COPS or something even though the hood was shut the entire time?
THanks.

Ok, update on the situation. I was talking with my dad about the problem and he suggested that I might have had some bad gas in the tank. While changing the pump I had the tank out of the truck for around 2 weeks while I was shopping for and ordering the pump and finding time to finish the job. During that time I had the pump disconnected from all lines and the tank. I know from experience that when gasoline is exposed to open air that the octane levels drop quickly.
Long story short, it only had a little less than a quarter tank in it, so I went to the station and put around 10 gallons in for test. The truck seems to be running fine since and all of the power is restored with no hesitation.
Any thoughts? I guess only more time will tell.
Thank you for your help,
