'01 5.4 Leaking Coolant

Need a little help. Did a coolant flush and refill about 2 months ago and the truck has not been able to hold a full level of coolant since. Every time I refill it to the full line the reservoir will be dry within a week or so. After that however the truck seems to stop leaking; I drove it for about a month with the reservoir empty and the truck did not overheat at all and I could not tell it was leaking.

Refilled the reservoir yesterday and came out to the truck leaking all over my driveway this morning. I'm having trouble finding where the leak is coming from; under the truck it is dripping from where the block meets the tranny, near the A/C drip hose. I cannot find any signs of a leak under the hood.

Also, the truck seems to leak more while it is cold and sitting. If I drive it around and get to operating temps it will not drip once parked.

Not sure if this may have anything to do with it but I do get a gurgling sound coming from the passenger side of the truck whenever I turn the heat off. There is no coolant smell in the cab and there is no evidence of the truck burning coolant or coolant in the oil. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

It only leaking until it gets to the bottom of the reservoir normally indicates at what level the leak is at, if that makes sense. I would check under the intake manifold in the block valley. There is a coolant hose coming from the water pump that runs under there, was known to leak and is about the same level as the bottom of your res. The gurgling sound is air trapped in the coolant system. It may be that wherever the leak, leaks more when cold as there is more pressure in the system until the thermostat opens up. Once that opens, if it is a pin hole type leak it may go away.
