My 04 5.4 sounds like a diesel

I have a 2006 F150, 5.4 Flex. I purchased it new and was surprised to hear it ticking like it was low on oil. I checked and all was well. The dealer told me its just that engine. I had the phaser's replaced did everything everyone on here has done. At 60000 miles the engine just stopped running on my way back from Des Moines to Omaha. Had no oil pressure. Checked the oil and it was ok. Engine started and all was well to get me back to Omaha. It would die every time I stopped at a light. My mechanic did everything he could. We replaced the engine at a addional 3500.00 cost just for the engine. Right out of the crate, Started up and it is ticking like a diesel just like it did when I first purchased the truck. Keep changing oil, found no metal shavings or anything out of the ordinary. Its got 2500 miles on the new engine. Any ideas. I am about ready to drive it into the river. lol I have always owned ford pickups, never problems like this.

Mine has been doing this since 70k mi. I now have 144k mi and I've gotten tired of it so I'm getting a cam phaser kit from livernois to stop it. I think it's around $300 or so for the kit and it eliminates the chatter. I've been told it doesn't hurt anything which it may not but if I want the chatter I'd get an f250 so I'll let ya know how this does when I get it installed.

Hi.

Which kit? There are both limiters and full lockouts. None near $300, AFAIK. Help me out here. Here are the choices:

Note that most of those kits require tuning as well.

PS - what I found surprising is the 6.2L Phaser lockout being offered....dint think it even used 'em, lol.

Seems like the 3v's just needed improvement by the way it sounds on reviews and this is the answer.

My motor was noisy too.when I got the front cover off the left chain guide had broke off leaving only the ends so the chain was chattering.
