PCM or other problem?

I just recently bought a 2000 Ford F-150 off of my dad. Working across seas he was never home to drive it and it has sat for probably more than a year. About a week ago I started to have some problems with it running wise. I had a guy come and look at it because it didn't want to start up. When he plugged into my PCM it would not connect to it. We looked at the fuse box and it ended up I had a loose connection with one of the fuses that was not letting the fuel pump cycle. Once we got it running he plug into my PCM and wasn't getting anything to show up that was bad. The truck has still had problems with power though and once it is in gear or even sitting in park if you put your foot on the gas it seems as if it is choking itself. The whole truck starts shaking, not from the power either, but from something else. The Service Engine Soon light has also came on now. Can anyone tell me what the problem may be? Could it be my PCM is messed up and not enough power is getting through or could it be the fact that the truck has sat for a year and might have corroded something? Looking for anyone who may be able to help me.

I would be more concerned about the old fuel that is in it. I would start there. You would be surprised what fuel looks like after one year. Empty the tank out, change the fuel filter and put fresh gas. You also need to have that code pulled from the check engine light, that will help determine what it is. Just because his scanner wouldnt plug in, doesnt mean the pcm is at fault. Sounds like it is not getting fuel. So start there.

If it has sat for over a year as you stated in your post, the gasoline in the tank must be replaced ! The fuel has gone bad and won't burn properly in the engine. Therefore not making any power and/or not running good at all.

Drop the tank, clean it out, replace the fuel filter, and put fresh gas in it with some Techron.

Thank you guys for the help. I drained the tank and put in a new fuel filter. It still ran hard after that so I had it looked at. It was a bad coil and cylinder 6.

Well draining the old fuel and putting a fresh filter wasn't a bad thing. Just typically where you start with something that has sat for a while. They symptoms you described could have very well been 90% from bad fuel. A single cylinder misfire would only cause some minor stumbling. Good to see it was fixed though?

Yeah. It feels good to have it running finally. I was glad to have that problem fixed it still has a few more though. I think my oil sending unit is going out, my dad said he has replaced it 3 times in the 5 years he has owned it.
My oil light comes on a lot and my pressure drops. The truck doesn't seem to run different though when I do this. So I don't know if it is the oil sending unit or if the guage isn't reading it right. I had someone suggest to me that I buy a guage for it and hook it up to wash to see if my pressure is actually dropping. Should I do this or just go ahead and have the oil sending unit replaced?
