5.4L spark plug surprise
5.4L spark plug surprise
Well, I bought my '06 about 15 months ago @ 60,000 miles. We made it through a new baby, home remodel, another 15,000 miles, and a few weeks at -15 degrees without making the plug change. I bought the Lisle tool a few weeks ago and finally got time and warm weather (no garage) to change my plugs. Cylinders 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, & 8 all came out fairly easily following the TSB. However, they all said "Autolite" on the porcelain. Hmmmm...
Cylinders 3 & 4 were not only the hardest to get to, but they were also the only two that broke. And they both came out saying "Motorcraft" on the porcelain. Hmmm...
No worries, at least I got my money's worth out of the Lisle tool (which worked almost flawlfessly). The truck runs like a top now. I'm just left wondering if the previous owner got screwed by some shadetree mechanic...or if he was just a lazy person that skipped the plugs he couldn't get to with ease.

Yes, the strap on the end of the plug on the right did break. And, yes, I did get it out with a little help from a magnet and some compressed air.
