Oil Change Sensor

I have a 2010 F150 with 5.4 engine, i had the oil changed approx 250 miles ago and the everything was fine. Yesterday the "Change Oil Warning" came on again.

I read somewhere that the newer vehicles have a oil sensor that constantly checks the oil and only has you change it when it starts to deteriate, vise the old system that warned you at predetermined mileage. Can anyone elaborate on what these engines actually have?

Thanks,
Dave

I'm curious to find out if my 08 has anything like that, although I have never seen it come on. My boss' 10 Ram has the change oil light come on it seems like at least every 3K or sooner.

Some of the Ford 2011s (Flex, Focus, and Edge - I think) have an intelligent OLM.

Dave - I suggest you read your owner's manual. The shop did not reset yours when they changed the oil.

Shotgunz,

Thanks for the clarrification on which vehicles have the OLM.

I looked at your mileage data on Fuelly.com, interesting change in mileage after the PHP install. Did you notice any change in towing performance as well? Have you been able to determine what your mileage drop is while towing your boat? I am assuming the drop in December is due to cold weather.

Yeah, the winter blend and longer time to operating temp hit the MPG each December-February.

I haven't towed the boat with the custom towing tune yet.
