A bit of a random question.....
I have a 1998 F150 Supercrew. As far as I know she is a 4.6l. However, I recently looked under the engine and the bottom of the block is stamped 5.4L. Am I missing something here or is the bottom the same on all engines but the heads make a difference?
I am not a mechanic but would love to know what is going on.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Sorry chaps, that should have read Supercab, not Supercrew.
What does it mean then that I read this 5.4L on the bottom of the block just below where the headers bolt on?
I had the head gasket replaced amongst other items like the radiator, wtaer pump etc... Surely these wouldn't have fit if the motor was actually 5.4?

If I post a photo of my engine, can someone identify if its a 4.6 or 5.4?

If it does or doesn't have spark plug wires, you will be able to see that easily. However, if the engine was swapped, it's possible that they kept the wires. 5.4's all had cops from the factory, 4.6's didn't switch till 2000 or so.
