Don't know anything about materials, but many on here have had good luck with Global and Uneek on ebay.

Link ~ "COILS (COP-10pk)"

Not sure on the windings. All my Global Coils are good, so their in one piece. I have two sets of Motorcraft Coils that went bad, yea, I cracked one in both sets open, their copper. I believe ALL coils in the COP systems are copper. I've never heard of or seen Aluminum coil windings. Where have you?

Bought a set of 8 from Global and have been running them for awhile now no problems....

Huh, okay, I see what mean. I'm curious as well. I've never seen them advertised this way. I have half a set of new Globals,-still in the box. I may cut one open out of curiosity, - if enough people are just as. No ambition at the moment lol.

Interesting. Could just be a sales pitch? I mean he is advertising them as "part brand:Motorcraft". Or maybe there's some truth to it. Jbrew, you said you already cut a motorcraft cop open? Ive already installed my globals or I would cut one open. But I do have a set of motorcrafts. Im curious now. Curious to see a uneek and global torn down.

i just order a set. think i'm going to try rewinding one of the old one's looks like a winding on a stator and i rewind them all the time. just have to find out a ohm reading on a new one. should be able to rewind one for about $1.50 in wire and ten min's. of time.

why are you throwing them away? are they bad if so how long did they last?

phil6608 Jan 3, 2011 12:50 PM

I think I'm making to much power for them.
I know everyone on here has great luck with them so it must be my truck.
I bought 10, put 8 on and one was bad from the beginning.(Good thing I got the 10 pack) Replaced the bad one and 3 more went bad in less then a 1000 miles.
So I ended up putting the Motorcrafts back on and replacing the bad one of them when I finally found it.

Crack ones skull open Phil, - see what it looks like :D

When I disected the Motorcraft, I gave it squeeze in the vise until the top blew off. Make sure that thing is pointed away from you and don't be eye ballin it  - , just listen, you'll hear it, - like CRACK, BOOM!

That's ^^^ the procedure. ;)

Just moved not long ago and have no vise or a bench to put it on.
Plus I'm lazy!

Geeze, I can't remember what it was wound around. When I broke it open, it was a known bad one for sure and I was looking for burnt windings. There was no evidence what so ever, - that's as far as I went with it. I didn't remove the entire housing, just the top and about 1/2 way down.

Also, the top came off fairly easy. The sides of the housing alligatored and cracked, but was a PITA to remove. It was glued pretty tight something else inside or the outer windings themselves. That's about all I can tell yuh.
