Ford 5.4 seems slowest?

Hello im new here ive owned dodge most of my life i just recently bought a 08 ford f-150 truck rides great and feels real solid. Just wondering why the 5.4 feels so weak? I mean i feel as if it couldnt keep up with a 2wd v-6 ram 1500 even tho im 4x4. i love the truck but wondering is there anything i can do to get a little more kick out of it like the hemi? Thanks

Search.

LT headers, true dual exhaust, Supercharger, tuner with custom tunes.

too many variables, but i'm guessing you have crappy gears in the '08

my '03 stock 5.4 has no problem wooping on the newer dodges and chevy's

go with a edge tuner and you will see alot more happier truck.. Or even go custom tunes and it will be even better.

What on earth do you have done short of a Super Charger to be wooping up on Dodge and Chevy? I have owned all three and the my current ride is the F150 with a 5.4 and 3.73's and its a SLOUCH! My friend has a PHP, KN CAI, True duals on his 04 5.4l. Its better than mine, but my 03 Z71 and 04 Hemi would have still molested it. Now dont get me wrong, I love my truck! Its one of my favorites because I am able to see the big picture of owning a truck, but its bar far the slowest/weakest of the three.

Edit: Nevermind, You are supercharged! Opened my mouth before looking into things.

a stock n/a 5.4 isnt weak just slow with the stock tune. something like an edge or superchips flashpaq or custom tune will make a big difference. the hemi and chevy may be quicker but with the 5.4's bottom end torque you will pull a heavy load off the line quicker. its the best pulling motor in its class.

as stated above, the 5.4 is a great towing engine, if you wanna be fast get a ferrari not an f150

There shouldn't be any molesting going on

Correct me if I am wrong, just pulled these up real quick
These are all 2004 models
HP/TQ
Dodge 5.7L Hemi 345/377
Chevy 5.3L vortech 285/325
Ford 5.4L 300/365

I'm not sure what the weight is on these

I hear ya, but there shouldnt be any way that the Chevy should have beat my Ford up the way it does, but it did! The Hemi according to paper should win. My F150 is a pulling machine. It does tow my boat nicer than my Z71 did, not quite as well as my Hemi. But I was just makin the point that the Ford is the slowest of the three as far as speed. Then to top it all off, it dont even feel like its fast (very decieving). My explorer with a 4.0 and 4.10 gears "FEELS" like its faster, though I know its not.

Again, im not trying to upset anyone. I LOVE MY F150! But that was how it went down in my town! rofl

To answer your question, Get a programmer, exhaust and intake. If that doesnt satisfy your need for speed, you might need to go back to a Bowtie or Ram.

I'm more than happy with the quickness of my truck. If you want quick go eat at Pancho's after you lose the key to the bathroom door.
