4.6 engine
4.6 engine
i have a 97 f-150 with a 4.6 engine. here is the question i was sitting at a traffic light when it felt like someone hit the truck. got out and look , nothing so i got back in and it started right back up like nothing happened. i drove it 5 miles home the next morning the engine sounds like a going to exsplode.the oil pressure is good ,just don't know what to do about it
A little more detail on the description would be nice. The sound you are hearing, can't pin point where its coming from? Exhaust? from the engine bay? What were the other symptoms of what happened at the stop light, did the truck stall, sputter and die? When you say it felt like someone hit you, did the truck lunge forward? What kind of noise did it make? Mileage on the truck? Maintenance history? Fluid changes, fuel filter, plugs etc...
From what you described, it could be anything from a failing transmission, blown plug, flat tire, exhaust leak, injectors, sensors, cop, plugs, fuel pump, electrical issue, hydrolocking.. etc... Try to narrow it down with some more details.
