High Idle RPM

On my truck, off and on for the past few months i have been noticing that when my truck is stationary, sometimes it idles normal (700-1000 RPM) and sometimes it has been shooting up to as much as 2200 RPM, it has been happening more frequently now, multiple times through out the day. Any ideas?

97 F150 4.6 v8
5 speed
colt air intake, edge evo programmer.

Check you Idle Air Control Valve. It may be sticking. You can clean it with carb cleaner or get a new one.

You should use WD-40 or Deep Creep to clean it - it needs a bit of lube. Remove it from the engine, spray it out, and work the valve with a screwdriver or something.
