Your expert opinions

Hey guys,

I come here often to read up but haven't posted since last years intake manifold gasket/plug and cop change thread. Wouldn't have been able to do it without you guys so thanks.

2002 F150 4.6L has been running great since the SP493 MC plugs and 8 global cops were installed 7k miles ago. On the way to work yesterday, #4 misfires. So I have ordered a 10 pack of cops from global again, but I'm torn on what to do.

1. The plugs installed 7k miles ago should still be good right?
2. Can i just replace the one cop since they only have 7k on them and save the rest for spares or should I change them all again?

Anyone else had one of these fail quickly and have the others last a while?

thanks
hill

I had a misfire on ol' #4 about 7 years ago and only replaced that COP.. The others are still the OEM ones with over 215,000 miles on them..

I haven't had a misfire since..

For sure you can change just one. I had the same issue with my 02 4.6. From what i understand with the COPs, its work or not. There is not in between. I did the same thing, ordered 8 of them and just changed them as needed.

it can not say when the cop will misfire so its better to have extra one with you and it will be beneficial in case of failure of one.

look for water in the plug hole. The heater hose above that cylinder fails..
