$585 is a lot for just a fuel filter, spark plug, and coil.

Interesting - you had a Champion 7989 fail? Brew is going to be ALL over that - have your flame suit ready. You may want to have a full set of Motorcrafts ready to go back in......

I didn't have the plugs put in. I'm the second owner, and the first owner did that. I didn't open her up to inspect what kind of plugs were in her, so I had no idea. There was a fuel system flush in that price as well, and $90 of that was the diagnostics too.

And if jbrew REALLY wants to argue over the internet, that's a little like competing in the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded...

Forget the updates, get those injectors out of there!

Seriously, there were several updates available for the PCM.

That other guy can go blow,- his engine. I could care less at this point. If anyone has an issue such as this and with an 05 model, protect your wallet and have a qualified tech check your injectors. You can do this yourself as well, fairly easy. All you have to do is ask.

I know all about the problems with injectors on '05 models. That's not the question. The question is, does this mean that ALL injectors in ALL '05s will fail? All 7,512,000+ of them? Also, does a tech at one of the largest Ford dealerships in the Southeast not qualify as a "qualified tech"? That's what I've been trying to tell you. Maybe you missed it.

And on the checking the injectors yourself bit: Ok, I'll bite. How does one do this? I'll check them myself if it makes you happy.

Me having an 05 5.4 and been through an injector hydrolock situation I'd just have them change the injectors for peace of mind, but hindsight is 20/20.

The only warning I had was an extremely random hard start every now and then. Then one day an injector stuck open. No CEL, just was able to pull a code with my Edge.
