Im stocking up on parts to do a rebuild on my 2001 5.4L super crew 4x4 and had some questions. Motor is stock now with a procharger kit on it. I have allready got injecotors and am buying the rest of the parts over the winter and it will get a custom tune when its all said and done.
question is this, what heads should I be looking for if any? I am aiming at direct bolt on stock replacement but don't know what will fit this thing......Im a pushrod guy at hart and know that if you wan't to run a set of 302 heads on a 351 you have to have the holes drilled out. Thus the question is this the same with the mod motor stuff. I keep seeing good deals for new heads on ebay (deffinatley cheaper then getting my set freshend up) but don't know crap about the romeo this and 4.6 vs 5.4 that. What will fit my motor direct bolt on and what casting if any should I be looking for to make more power over the ones I have now if any?
Last set I saw was a set of 4.6L brand new with cams SOHC for under $300. is it the same head I have now just bolted on a 4.6? If so thats a hell of a lot cheaper and easier then getting mine redone. Does one head stand out for more power.......I know I have a procharger kit but Ill take all the help I can get? I may even be swapping out the cams for blower cams with this build but nothing to crazy since this is mainly a towing rig and daily driver.

If you want to keep your 13 bolt valve covers you will need to insist on Windsor heads. The Mustang, or Romeo heads, cannot use the same valve cover as the bolt pattern is different.
